1. Adding a Retainer

Retainers can have fantastic benefits for both your company and the client. This lesson explains how to add a new Retainer project into CMAP.

Step 1: Go to the pipeline area by clicking the Pipeline tab.

Step 2: Click the Add a New Project button in the right-hand panel.

Step 3: Complete the Add Your New Project form, telling CMAP important pieces of information it needs to know.

When you get to Fee Type, select Retainer.

NOTE: Two additional boxes will appear, Retainer Value and Additionals.

Step 4: Enter the value of the Retainer in Retainer Value e.g. '£480,000'.

Step 5: Enter the value of any Additionals in Additionals e.g. '£20,000'.

NOTE: Additionals is not a mandatory field, so if this value is unknown or indeterminable leave it blank.

Step 6: Once you’ve completed the form, click Save and CMAP will give it a new project number and add it into your projects list. N.B. If you have Manual Project Numbering switched on CMAP won’t give it a new project number. Instead, you will be required to give your project a code in the Add Your New Project form.

NOTE: At present the Fee will be zero, that’s because no projects have been linked to the Retainer.
